Learn to Loom Knit this Saturday

Learn to Loom Knit

Learn the art of Loom Knitting this Saturday from 12pm-2pm.  In the next class we are creating a hat. Check out more information on the class here.

The more pattern searching I do the more excited I get about loom knitting.  Did you know you can pretty much make all the same stitches on the loom as you can while knitting?  As an added benefit, the loom holds all your stitches and may even be easier on your hands.

When I first tried loom knitting, all I thought you could do was the e-wrap, but there’s an entire world of stitches out there.  Check out Isela Phelps page on stitches.  Really, keep on browsing her whole website, it rocks!

We have our own resident loom knitting expert here in Conway, Renita Harvey.  She teaches our classes and has published some great content.  Here’s a resource she wrote on how much yarn is needed for different projects.

There are a few more really fun patterns I want to share, but I’ll have to link them later.

How to attend Saturday’s Class:

Reserve your seat and even prepay for your loom right here!  Then show up a few minutes early on Saturday, to pick out your yarn.

To reserve your seat in the upcoming class click here $10

To prepay for your loom click here $28

You can pick out your yarn once you are in the shop. (cost of yarn is less than $15)

If you just want help with a current pattern or any other Loom Knitting 911 problem, go ahead and reserve your seat and Renita will be ready to help you get it all figured out.

Call or email with any questions and hope to see you there!

You only need to attend once a month, but please feel free to come more often!

MONTHLY SCHEDULE:
First Saturday 10am-12pm
Second Wednesday Morning 10am-12pm
Third Friday Afternoon 4pm-6pm
Fourth Tuesday Night 6pm-8pm

Please check our monthly calendar for times and be sure to sign up for our Newsletter to get monthly updates and schedules.

Below is the explanation from Michelle’s website:

“Every pattern in the “Building Blocks” book focuses on the development of a skill while knitting a lovely square. Each square, or block, builds upon the skills learned in the previous patterns, giving knitters more confidence, knowledge and skill. At the completion of the series, the reward is an abundance of knitting know-how along with 12 gorgeous blocks to assemble into a sampler afghan.”

Sign up in the shop to pay for book and supplies and join us as we learn new skills and have fun building blocks.  Questions?  Please contact us with the subject Build a Block Class.  Thank you!

Are you ready for some Football??? Join Team Twisted in the Scoreboard KAL

Football season is almost here!  For me, this is a big YIPEEEE!  For others, this time of year is painfully boring.  We have teamed up with Skacel and Michelle “Knit Purl” Hunter to help put more fun into football.

Scoreboard KAL

Join us as we knit-a-long with our favorite teams and document every point scored in this football season by knitting one row in the round to represent each point.  You pick your teams two colors, the main color represents your teams points, and the secondary color represents the opponents points.  When the game is over, knit a round of a third complimentary color and then start again next weekend.  You simply knit in the round for each point scored and end up with a really fun cowl representing the whole season.  FUN!!!

Here’s the description from ScoreboardKAL.com

“Slated to kick off with the beginning of the football season, the 2015 Scoreboard KAL will allow fans to capture their favorite team’s season in the form of a hand-knit SCOREBOARD cowl!”

Check out their website and stop by The Twisted Purl to get your supplies. Yarn is scheduled for delivery September 1, 2015.

We will link to the free pattern as soon as it’s available!

TEAM TWISTED will be knitting when each point is scored during all the Arkansas Razorbacks, UCA Bears, Hendrix Warriors, Dallas Cowboys, and or the Conway Wampus Cats Varsity.  You don’t have to do all the teams, just pick your favorite or a loved ones favorite (just think of what a cool gift this would make for the football fanatic in your life)  If you miss a game and need your team’s knitting stats, we’ll even have an option to sign up for weekly stat updates.

Get your needles ready and let’s kick of the 2015 football season in crafty style!
