Old Meets New: Horse Carriages, Cell Phones, Spinning Wheels, Fireworks…

Old Meets New
Nothing beats being somewhere and seeing beautiful horse drawn carriages.  Takes you back.  Makes you think of the day when all there were were horses and wagons and wait a minute…is that guy on a cell phone?  Yep, turns out both horse drawn carriage drivers were on their cell phones.  Wonder if they were talking to each other.  CLICK HERE if you want to see the picture “Old Meets New” on Flickr.  It’s a bit larger.
The set up this year at The Promenade at Chenal was really not that great. First off it was so windy. Everything had to be really anchored down. Standing behind my booth was very chilly. Secondly, they placed us down at the end of the center with another vendor. All the activities (horse drawn carriages, tree lighting, choirs, Santa & Mrs. Claus) was in the center of the area. At least the general manager came by and apologized for our placement. I think the initial thinking was if they placed vendors at the ends it would keep people walking around…not so much. The manager told me next year would be different and we would be smack in the middle of things. I will have to think long and hard over whether or not this show is worth doing again. But hey, at least it ended in a BANG:
There were a ton of fireworks and they were awesome!
What’s on the Wheel Wednesday (& handspun too):
Pictures on Top Row: New Handspun Christmas Red & White Sparkly Yarn
Picture on Bottom Left: Alpaca Handspun Yarn
Picture on Bottom Right: Blue Tencel & Merino
What’s on the Knitting Needles?
This array of mess is a new Scrap Scarf. It’s a lot wider than the last one. Such an amazing use for all my scraps. The end outcome is always so cool…a cross between harmony and ciaos.
I got these trio of Snowmen Razorback Fans at Hallmark.  They have opted out of doing a new snowman in their series this year (which I am totally heart broken about).  But the new Razorback Trio was a great consultation.
I want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas Season.  Enjoy every minute of it, and craft your pants off…we still have 22 crafting days left!  ♥

The New Wheel is Here

Today, sitting on my front porch was a glorious sight. An Ashford Wheels & Looms box. Bet you can guess what was in it… Ta Da! A brand spanking new spinning wheel. An Ashford Joy Spinning Wheel. It was so exciting. I almost cried. Yes, I am a big spinning dork…I know. She is so very pretty! Check her out.
The wheel folds up flat for easy travels. Also has a build in lazy kate. Ashford is engraved on both sides of the wheel.
I love the way she spins too. No fussy treadles and slipping wheel. Just smooth, smooth spinning.

On a different note, just in time for Memorial Day, I am listing some Americana funky painted yarn. Very bulky and super unique. My mail was ever so exciting today. I had a couple cute things sent to me as a special thank you and this was one of them. Cute sticker!

Off to enjoy my new wheel! ♥

Toad Suck Daze Goody Bags

I am working on my promotional goodies for the AREtsy Bags I am putting together to hand out as little freebies for all the folks who stop by the booth during Toad Suck Daze. I have several skeins of yarn that are too small to sell or some extra left over yarn from projects I have made. I am taking them and making them into super small mini skeins. Then I will add my business card with an Etsy discount code, for future shoppers. I can’t wait to see all the nifty goodies AREtsy members will be sending. I will be sure to take loads of pictures, so you can see the bags and goodies.
Here is a shot of my newest handspun yarn…Deep Calls to Deep:
I am so torn. I need to build up my inventory something crazy to have enough stock for Toad Suck Daze. I fear, my shop stock may be a little low over the next few weeks in my prep for the booth. I will list a few skeins here and there, but most of my items will be reserved for the big show.

So, here is my latest desire:

An Ashford Joy Spinning Wheel. I have almost bought it several different times. There are three different websites I have been considering purchasing this beauty from. Each offers different free incentives for getting the wheel from them. The incentives range from extra bobbins to free fiber. I am really torn. This wheel is amazing. It folds up and goes right into a cool travel bag. It fold up with the lazy kate still attached, so no removal of the bobbins is needed. Hopefully, it will be mine soon. I plan to have it before Toad Suck Daze to happily spin on, to show folks how The Twisted Purl product is born.

I best be off!!! Loads to do and the clock is ticking. Happy Crafting ♥
